Punch-Out ROM Hack Creator

For Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

Make your own version of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! for the NES. Change every boxer, what they say and how they fight, give Little Mac more (or less) power, and add things the original never had, like a real 2 player mode and an Options menu on the title screen.

New features you can add

Things the original game never had. Flip them on in the tool.

  • New options menuA brand new OPTIONS menu right under NEW and CONTINUE. 2 Player Mode, Exhibition Mode and difficulty settings live here, and more goodies are on the way.
  • 2 player modeGrab a friend (or a rival, or your little brother) and let them play the boxer on controller 2: punches, guards, and his big special on Start.
  • All boxers can dodgePlayer 2 dodges with Left and Right. Yes, even Von Kaiser and King Hippo, who had never dodged anything in their lives.
  • Player 2 gets the boxer upPlayer 2 mashes A or B to get the boxer back on his feet, just like Little Mac.
  • 2 players always on normalPick 2 PLAYERS in OPTIONS and DIFFICULTY locks to NORMAL (it turns gray), so the fight stays fair for both players.
  • 2P race ExperimentalPick 2P RACE under PLAYERS in OPTIONS. Player 1 fights a boxer, then player 2 fights the same boxer on controller 2.
  • Play as the boxer Still testingPick PLAY BOXER under PLAYERS in OPTIONS. You play the boxer with controller 1 and the computer plays Little Mac.
  • Exhibition modePick any boxer in OPTIONS and jump straight into that fight. Win or lose, you go right back to the title for another go.
  • Difficulty settingsFive levels, from Ultra Easy (Mac hits twice as hard and the boxers go easy on you) to Very Hard (good luck, champ).
  • King Hippo can get upHe gets back up like everybody else. Pick who gets him up: the computer and 2 player (he borrows Don Flamenco’s rules), or 2 player only.
  • Knockdowns for a TKOPick how many knockdowns in one round end the fight: for a TKO win (the boxer goes down) and a TKO loss (Mac goes down).
  • Mash for healthOnce the other guy hits the mat, mash A or B like crazy: every 5 presses gives you a little health back, and your name flashes on the name bar while you mash.
  • RandomizerShuffle what each boxer throws and when, his stats, names and colors, or smash CHAOS MODE and see what happens.
  • Password rememberingThe game remembers your password: it’s already filled in on CONTINUE. Just press Start and go.

  • Secret codes made easierThe Another World Circuit and credits codes work with a plain old Start, like any other password.
  • Easier button mashing to get Little Mac upMac (and the boxer, when player 2 gets him up) needs fewer A and B presses to get up, and the last few presses don’t slip away as fast.
  • Your credit on the title screenThe title screen says your game was made with Punch-Out ROM Hack Creator, with ROMTOOLKIT.COM at the bottom.
